How do you get a license to drive a boat in the UK?
How old do you have to be? Do you need to have taken lessons with an official teacher before applying for a license (like when learning to drive a car)? Is there an actual 'driving test' for boats? Does the UK license enable you to go anywhere you like, or can you only travel in UK (or maybe E.U) waters?
Also, do you need a seperate license for a boat you intend to use for fishing with small nets?
Pretty much any info on this topic would be great
Thank you very much!
1. On the sea – you don't need a license to drive the boat, but if you don't get the knowledge, the sea will kill you.
2. How old – any age, but if you cause trouble/have an collision, a responsible adult will have to take responsibility (if that's you, fine).
3. In rivers – varies according to the river – check local bye-laws
4. Inland waterways/canals – both UK and EU have strict rules; in EU,you MUST have a CEVNI license or you will be stopped.
5. Fishing with nets possibly counts as fishing commercially – will need licenses and a quota allocation – check local regs.

Markets are opening till midnights in Srinagar & other cities in Kashmir. People are enjoying boat rides too.?
In bazaars, there is a festival look everyday. Gardens too are open. At some places people are playing cricket at night too. Dal Lake has full activity as it is in day time. These things were reported in media & Doordarshan too showed, something unthinkable few years ago.
Shouldn't the army get out of public places ?
Isn't it a good lesson for migrated Pundits who play treachery ?
Isn't it a silent lesson for them : Either go back home or get lost ?
yes as it sounds great and relaxing and would frighten people when soldiers walking around with guns ?what a lovely place to live

When you saying your dad's passion is in boating, you can send him a fishing gift basket, or a mini fishing boat filled with cookies, and other savory treats. There are so many ways to show your appreciation to dad, best ones are listed here – http://www.istorez.com/shop/fathers-day

If you already have a licence for the UK, it may be recognized in Canada. You can check with either the Coast Guard, http://www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca/eng/CCG/Home or with CPS (Canadian Power and Sail Squadron),http://www.cps-ecp.ca/

What happend in the 80s? What where the big music changes?
What happened in the 80s? What where the big music changes?
What bands where around?
What happened musically?
How did it all happen?
I need some help with my music anthology for school In my English lesson. And It would be awesome if you could give me a hand. It's mainly rock history…But whatever floats your boat.
Thanks. I owe you one!
Hello , well in the UK
Early 80s –
New Romantic which was a direct backlash against punk – flamboyant and dramatic like Duran Duran, Human League, Spandau Ballet (loving the big shirts!!)
Electronic stuff like Kraftwerk, Steve Strange/Visage…
Pop was always with us with the likes of Culture Club, Michael Jackson, oh yes Madonna…..and how could I forget Wham! and the ground breaking Frankie (well it was at the time – the BBC banned Relax so it went of course straight to number one!!) Soul too with Sade, and Billy Ocean; Simply Red and Tears for Fears were apparently soul inspired…..
Rock like Genesis and Pink Floyd were kind of perennial and were also around..oh and the Smiths started off in the 1980's too. Phil Collins struck out on his own righ through the 1980's with the first of his albums Face Value in 1982 – I still can't listen to "in the air tonight" to this day without …that's another story!!
moving into the mid 80's horrible horrible bands like the Beastie Boys, and rappy hip hoppy stuff which I hated, though there was plenty of other stuff going on Doctor and the Medics, the Communards, Godley and Creme, Berlin, Europe, T'au, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, too many to list.
Goth rock grew out of the bleak post-punk rock of the Cure and Joy Division. As the name implies, goth rock had grand, baroque arrangements performed with gloomy synthesizers and processed guitars. Lyrically, goth was equally dark, featuring a lot of cryptic, morbid poetry. Almost as remarkable as its sound was goth's image — the bands and the fans usually dressed in black and wore heavy makeup.
Primarily, goth rock was a mid-'80s British sensation — it was one of several fringe genres that occupied the space between new wave and alternative. Nevertheless, certain musical elements of goth lingered into the '90s, even if it didn't capture the imagination of alternative audiences like it did before.
Then in 1989 to early dance music – the beginning of the rave scene….house, acid house, techno, their genesis in the UK was in the late 1980's although it originated in the mid 80's in Chicago IL. House was described as being like "church for people who have fallen from grace"
House music grew out of the post-disco dance club culture of the early '80s. After disco became popular, certain urban DJs — particularly those in gay communities — altered the music to make it less pop-oriented. The beat became more mechanical and the bass grooves became deeper, while elements of electronic synth pop, Latin soul, dub reggae, rap, and jazz were grafted over the music's insistent, unvarying four-four beat. Frequently, the music was purely instrumental and when there were vocalists, they were faceless female divas that often sang wordless melodies.
A lot of musical genres developed in the 1980's it was a busy time – and I haven't even touched on other subcultures like metal, folk (dying a death in the 80's drippy tie-dye being well out of fashion!), third wave ska (Specials, Madness) and so on.
Wow! I hadn't remembered the 80's had so much going on….I think I need to go and investigate my vinyl collection and the CDs – what fun! thanks

What is this movie????……..?
Its kind of an older film, and all I know about it is that there's this lady and the guy who likes her is like a stalker and kind of has control over her.
So she takes swimming lessons and when they're on the boat at night she jumps off and swims away and fakes her death and puts her wedding ring down the toilet, but he finds the ring later on.
So she goes to a different town and meets a guy she likes, blah blah, later in the movie the stalker guy gets killed.
Anyone know what movie this is?
It's "Sleeping With the Enemy", starring Julia Roberts.

motorboatalists – the curse of the sailing classes?
I am sure that some motor boat owners are jolly nice people if you meet them in a pub – but on the water….
This was filmed on the River Crouch on a sunny sunday in August. It is a de-restricted speed zone for skiiers but some motor boats decide this is a good place to open up their twin Volvos to full blat and shove ther 35 footers up onto a plane. It may be fun but its tough on other users of the river.
