How much would it cost to mount a 1972 evinrude?
Hi i have a 15.5 cresltliner fiberglass boat with a 70hp evinrude with controls, i am purchasing a 50hp evinrude with controls, how much is it to disassemble the old outboard and mount the new one on with controls.
how much do dealers usually charge for this labor
how much would private parties charge

Hi ,… you would pay by the hour and this should take no longer than 2 hours. Then they would want to test it… find out if there's any problems.. Locally here the dealers charge anything up to $200 per hour.
Its an easy job to do your self …. if you have Friend to help lift off the motor … or a hoist unscrew the bolts use marine grade sealant when you put new motor on. The controls just plug in and the steering. . is exactly the same. unscrew the bolt from the steering tube.. look how its attached .. photograph it so you know how it should look.
If you don't Fancy it look in your local bargain papers look for mobile boat mech and just give them a call. Its usually about half the service cost of the dealers……..

Should I be wary of boat dealers selling used boats with "no hour meters"?
What are the average hours per year I should expect?
Most small boats even today don't have hour meters as standard equipment – as stated above the average boat does about 50 hours per year. Just look at the condition of the engine – get a compression check, if it's and inboard/outboard – have the gall bearings and bellows checked – they are a good indicator of use. I sold boats for 8 years and the majority of the used boats we sold did not have an hour meter – just look at the condition of the motor, take it for a test drive, as long as it was maintained well and it is not too old you should be fine. Note: the average GAS marine engine needs a rebuild about every 3000 hours

How do I register an Inflatable Boat with a trolling motor in Texas?
I purchased a sevylor Inflatable 3 person boat a year ago on ebay. I also bought a used MinnKota brand 1.5 HP electric trolling motor. I was told i needed to register the boat if I want to take it out to a lake. I called but they were asking what dealer I bought it from , it was just some guy on ebay. Any help would be greatly appereciated.
