In mn is it required to have insurance on your boat?
I was interested in getting a boat this year and was wondering if insurance is required on a boat. Also, do I need tabs for a trailer or boat?

In our state it is required to have an insurance on our boat. Even inflatable boat requires to have license in our place.I don't know if in your state it is also required. Anyway, it'll be better if you'll ask the boaters in your state for you to be sure of it.

I live in New Jersey & am buying a boat. Do I need a Licence & Insurance?
I am buying a used 14 foot Jon boat with a trolling motor. I know it needs to be registered & so does the trailer. I was looking online & read that you need a licence to oporate a power boat or jet ski on New Jersey waterways. My question is, does a trolling motor make it a power boat? Or does power mean only "gas outboard" power boat? Also do I need insurance for the boat & trailer? I was reading online & it said that I only need to bring the title for the boat & my info. It said nothing about insurance.

I Live in Lake Hopatcong , NJ and am an active boater in NJ. I own boats since I was 16 years old . to your questions now, Yes you will need an boater licence since your are going to enjoy that boat in non -trial water, another meanning, an lake.or a river. its easy you just go to your local DMV and request a boat edosment and it will cost $ 5.00 for the up grade. you must also go to a USCG approved boater course. to get more info on that you shall go to www.USCG.gov or to www.boatus.com they will hook you up for a local classes in your area. here in lake hopatcong theres one every week at our local resturants and/or marinas. also about insurance, NJ doesnot require an insurance for the boat or trailer,. but its good to have it, just incase.. all insurance compines provide PWC insurance. you car / truck insurance covers your trailer while is getting pull by the car. if its gets stolen, damage exmaple in your driveway, marina,. then your car insurnce will not cover, thats where your boat / trailer insurance comes in handy. when you go to your local DMV to get trailer plates you will be ask insurance company and policy # just put your car insurance carrier and your current policy # . to avoid any risk, you shall insurance your boat and trailer,. What other types of insurance do you have besides homeowners, auto, health, and life?
I just bought a house and I'm about to get married. I'm thinking I should have some kind of insurance that could pay the mortgage should I ever become unable to work since I am the main breadwinner and there's no way my soon to be husband could pay all the bills himself. He could probably hack it without the mortgage payment, that would be the killer. Anyone in the same boat? What kind of insurance is the best for this, disability or mortgage insurance?
You may want to look into an Umbrella policy. This will cover you if you should get sued for more than the coverage you have on your auto or home insurance. See your agent for details.
I recommend the you see a LOCAL agent and have him/her do a free Financial Need Analysis (FNA), or other Total Need program, to help YOU determine how much, and what type, or combination of, life insurance YOU need to reach YOUR own short and long-term goals and objectives. You will be given several options, YOU choose what best fits YOUR needs.
If an agent recommends an amount or a particular type of life insurance without doing the FNA, he/she is being unprofessional, and doing you a disservice. Remember, it's YOUR plan, and NOT the agent's.
The FNA will also help you dertermine if you need Disability Income Protection, to provide an income should you be hurt or sick and can't work. This protection could keep you from losing your house if you couldn't pay the payments while on disability.
The FNA will also help you determine if you need an Individual Retirement Account (IRA) to help you save for retirement. (All that will be there when you get there is what you send on ahead.)
According to statistics, disability is a greater risk than death prior to the age of 65.

Can't seem to find any body to insure contents of a boat. We are living on the vessel, here in southern Ireland. Would consider Uk if we have to? Thanks…..
look in the sea angler mag, it has quite a few and they are cheap. plus the mag is the best out of the sea fishing mags
